Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin is the eponymous debut album by English rock band Led Zeppelin. It was released on 12 January 1969 in the United States and on 31 March in the United Kingdom by Atlantic Records. The album was recorded in September and October 1968 at Olympic Studios, London, shortly after the band's formation. It contains a mix of original material worked out in the first rehearsals, and covers and rearrangements of contemporary blues and folk songs. The sessions took place before the group had secured a recording contract and were paid for directly, and took 36 hours and less than 2,000 to complete. The album showed the group's fusion of blues and rock, and their take on the emerging hard rock sound was immediately commercially successful in both the UK and US. Although the album was not critically well-received when first released, critics have since come to view it in a more favourable light. - WIKIPEDIA

3/15/1969 - It would seem that, if they’re to help fill the void created by the demise of Cream, they will have to find a producer (and editor) and some material worthy of their collective attention.

6/12/2014- (Reissue Review) Led Zeppelin is a triumph of production, each part clear and forceful but adding up to something even more powerful.

The heavy riffing and power chords rain down more effectively than Cream’s and Plant’s vocals sound eerie and familiar at the same time. Page’s guitar and studio wizardry are apparent and powerful.

Although the album isn't as varied as some of their later efforts, it nevertheless marked a significant turning point in the evolution of hard rock and heavy metal.

While there have been many fine debuts in rock history, it can be argued that no band ever made such a game-changing splash than Led Zeppelin did in 1969.

There's something about Led Zeppelin and this album in particular I really love and it's something I see as an ideal for hard rock or ( heaven forbid! ) heavy metal groups.

Nothing is as bombastic and pretentious as the worst of their later work.

it’s less diverse than their following albums, and it’s easily my least favourite of their early albums, especially as it takes a dip in quality at the end with the last two songs dragging.

6/19/2014 - (Reissue Review) Led Zeppelin reinvented the vocabulary of rock music many times throughout their decade-long career, but their most radical burst of creativity came straight out of the gate.

Heavy blues at its most uncompromised, sharp, bombastic, precise and hard-hitting. Wow!
