    (1978) Kaya is a succession of the most tepid reggae clichés, pristinely performed and recorded, every last bit of tourist bait (down to the wood blocks) in place just like a Martin Denny record.

    Though the catchy mid-tempo dance riddims on display here are even more similar sounding than usual, an impressive overall groove carries the record (turning a negative into a positive), which is boosted by some of Marley’s best lyrics.

    'Kaya' toned down the tougher sounds and songs and replaced them with more laid-back cuts about smoking weed, making love and smoking weed. The album sticks to its theme, which works in its favor. The great "Is It Love" is here too.
