On her 20th album, It’s Your Call, McEntire picks up where 1991’s For My Broken Heart left off. . . . In truth, it isn’t nearly as pessimistic as its predecessor — and unfortunately it isn’t anywhere as involving. On It’s Your Call, McEntire proves she still owns the very voice of unfulfilled romantic desire.

McEntire showed her best on For My Broken Heart; while she's not holding back here, only casual or partial listeners will be moved as much.

Reba empathizes with those stinging from broken relationships. Still, she doesn't hold out a lot of hope, except in "One Last Good Hand" and "For Herself." With only minor exceptions, a good overall selection.

There's no point expecting scintillation--even her new best-of doesn't have more than two-three zingers on it. So what's most irksome about this dull, bland megahit is what it says about the new Nashville.
