‘Indigo’ has redefined previous interpretations of RM. Not entirely separating him from his position within BTS, but instead presenting him as an individual artist. ‘Indigo’ gave us the chance to witness the inner thoughts of RM, his likes, his inspirations, what he has carried with him throughout his journey as an artist. In terms of the album’s sound, it settled with more mainstream pop, yet tracks such as ‘Yun’ and ‘Forg_tful’ felt sincere. ‘Indigo’ is a charming look into the mentality of a global superstar. 8/10

Indigo is expected to be RM’s last full-length record until his enlistment ends, and in many ways, it plays like a farewell-for-now. But it also sounds like an artist taking a deep breath and feeling out what new experiences and insights his career might bring in five, 10, or 15 years. He already knows how it feels to stand beneath explosions of color and light. Now it’s time for falling petals.

  • Yours Truly

Each member of BTS carries a weight that is beyond comprehension, but as the group’s leader, RM frequently carries a different kind of burden. As much as “Indigo” is a gift to the listeners, it also feels like a present to the author’s own creative energy.
