In a Perfect World...

In a Perfect World... is the debut studio album of American singer-songwriter Keri Hilson. It was released on March 24, 2009 through Zone 4, Mosley Music Group and Interscope Records. Originally planned for a 2007 release, it was pushed back numerous times into 2008, amid her label's budget issues and minor single releases. The production on the album was handled primarily by Timbaland, Polow da Don and Danja, among others. -Wikipedia

The slower tracks don't match up to their opposites, or even the bittersweet midtempo cut "Alienated," but they're not enough of a snag to prevent the album from being one of 2009's most replayable R&B releases.

As a whole, the album suffers from an overriding sense of sameness, of mood as well as in relation to the current R&B landscape.

"In a Perfect World . . . " might be Keri Hilson's debut album, but it's hardly the work of a record-biz neophyte.

Unfortunately, this isn’t a perfect world, and Hilson’s debut instead arrives stillborn; a flat collection that’s already been bled of any potential hits, coming on the heels of four flop solo singles.
