Critic Reviews
Show All-
The New York Times
Most of this album is an extension of DJ Khaled’s tenets of more and louder and still more. That extends to his guest list, as packed as ever.

ALL MUSIC
As an artist who doesn't rap, write, or sing, and doesn't produce that often, DJ Khaled is still a well-connected and prolific album curator, so much so that I Changed a Lot is his eighth star-studded full-length since 2006, and one that debuted at number 12 on Billboard's album chart.

SPIN
While it’s no We Global or even a We the Best Forever, it’s not without its own outrageous merits.
-
HIPHOPDX
There’s no number of stars that can save this album from aiming high, falling short, and still somehow being quite entertaining at moments along the way.
-
hnhh
is another seemingly random collection of bright, of-the-moment beats, song titles that could double as all-caps Instagram captions and featured artist pairings that are awards show-level weird.
-
The Ithican
“I Changed A Lot” sees Khaled employing a plethora of guests to create an album that is solid stylistically but severely lacking lyrical complexity.

Yet Another Hip-Hop Blog
The production is all the same, really loud and heavy handed and there is way too much effects heavy voices on the album from singers like August Alsina to Future and Fetty Wap. The sound is almost grating, the one bright spot is the star talent that is Chris Brown who manages to bring something to any song he is featured on that elevates it.

Truth is DJ Khaled hasn’t changed at all. The album is a lot of hype and bragging, so he’s the best, what else is new?

Rap n Blues
"I Changed A Lot" is full of productions that all sound the same - loud, overloaded and with too much inappropriate effects on the voices of August Alsina on Future to Fetty Wap. You could almost call it "squeaky" or "crunchy". Only Chris Brown manages to lift the level on the tracks he helped create.
