Big & Rich are musically clever, filling the record with big hooks and unbridled weirdness. Not that all of this is successful -- it can sound too goofy at points -- but it's wilder and stranger than most contemporary country albums of 2004, and a whole lot more fun, to boot.

Don't worry about what color this horse is, just know it's a thoroughbred, and it's going to give you a great ride.

So Big and Rich have risen the bar, and then sent a shot-glass of rotgut down it. The most crunk album of 2004 has been delivered, and it’s been delivered by a guy that used to be in Lonestar, and his friend. These are interesting times that we live in, but who better to chronicle two genres and a culture in flux than Big and Rich? The South shall rock again.

Despite these mixed results, Kenny, a veteran Nashville songwriter, and Rich, a former Lonestar member, make for an intriguing duo.
