  • Pitchfork

After four LPs that pushed the boundaries of what's expected from a rock band, Radiohead internalized leftfield electronics yet embraced straightforward rock.

It’s sad, dark, witty and hilarious all at once.

Hail is both dazzling and frustrating; it refuses to give up its secrets even after a dozen listens.

Hail to the Thief may not be perfect, but I still think it’s a pretty damned good album, and even more relevant today than it was at the time of its release in 2003.

Hail To The Thief is an interesting album. In terms of Radiohead, it's a step backwards, but lyrically it's a step forwards.

If Kid A was an allowed indulgence, and Amnesiac an afterthought, Thief should be the record that propels the band to a new career high.

What the band has created is an album of 14 very different pop songs, and damn good ones at that.

Like the band's best work, Hail to the Thief requires more than a few listens to fully appreciate, but those who stick around will be richly rewarded.

Hail To The Thief is another excellent album in one of the best catalogues in rock music; it may not be as ambitious as what’s come before, but there are just as many good ideas as ever.

I know that my opinions on music from this era probably aren't worth much, but this is one of the more enjoyable albums I've heard from the 1990's onward, and I heartily recommend it.

I can’t quite see what the album’s trying to say, and there’s a malaise that makes listening to it a sour experience for songs at a time.

Yet while not necessarily the most recognised and lauded-over Radiohead LPs, the content, themes and messages continue to age well as the band.
