GRACE UNDER PRESSURE
| RushGRACE UNDER PRESSURE
Grace Under Pressure is the tenth studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released in April 1984 on Anthem Records. After touring for the band's previous album, Signals (1982), had come to an end in mid-1983, Rush started work on a follow-up in August. The band had decided to not work with its longtime producer Terry Brown, who had worked with Rush since 1975. The new material continued the group's change in direction towards a keyboard-oriented sound as per the previous two albums -wikipedia

Rolling Stone
1984 - If you like Rush, you’ll love it; if not, then Grace Under Pressure is unlikely to alter your assessment of the band as a lumbering metal anachronism.
-
Classic Rock Review
This would mark the high-water mark of Rush’s mid-eighties body of work, as subsequent albums relied much more heavily on synthesizers.
-
Odyssey
2017 - consider it to be a classic Rush album that I would put in the same tier as their best work from the 70's and early 80's
-
Cygnus-X1
Better combination of synths and guitars. Powerful, if not dark, lyrics.
-
Hokey Blog!
2015 - one of their best 80s records and an essential one for fans who don’t immediately eschew the band’s keyboard-dominated period
-
All Music
a slightly more accessible sound than its predecessor, Signals, and marked the beginning of a period where many Rush fans feel that synths and electronics were used too prominently -- in effect pushing guitarist Alex Lifeson into the background
-
Spectrum Culture
2016 - considering the level of bravery it took to step into a style that risks the validity of their musical prowess, Grace Under Pressure may have been their most progressive album to date
-
Smart Bass Guitar
2014 - Each song fits with the one prior and leads nicely into the one after it. The balance of hard rocking guitars and bass works nicely with synth nicely whether serving as a lead or as a supportive instrument.
-
Power Windows
'Grace Under Pressure' is the band's toughest, most accessible album for some time, due in no small part to drummer Neil Peart's highly immediate words.
-
Andrew Sharp
2018 - another great album in the RUSH catalog. The music is RUSH being RUSH, being musical gods on their instruments.

John McFerrin Music Reviews
some of the songs really grew on me over the years, but there's no question to me that it's a major step back for the band

Adrian's Album Reviews
It's a strong LP, not one of the groups finest but you can't do that every time you enter the studio, can you?
-
Mark's Record Reviews
Still, at least they're calm adults playing what they believe to be at least semi-creative music, I think. You know - it at least gives the impression of trying to do something different than the rest of the musical world, which is more than you can say about Presto or something.

Saint Louis University
Their most enigmatic album. Dark, grey, sullen, brooding, take your pick. ... Still, this disc is in many ways brilliant.
-
Only Solitaire
Goofy. Dumb. Derivative. Monotonous. Forty minutes of a guilty pleasure - let 'em boyos rock you with their individualistic concepts and modernistic riffage!
-
Ultimate Classic Rock
Neil Peart’s drums sound lifeless, Alex Lifeson’s guitars resemble robotic horn sections and Geddy Lee’s synths run rampant
-
Don Ignacio
I enjoy this album. I think it's entertaining. That's that.
-
Wilson & Alroy's Reviews
Lyric-wise, Peart pulled back from sweeping narratives and socio-political pronouncements in favor of obscure ciphers
-
Mike Ladano
Even if Grace Under Pressure has a downer vibe, the first side is excellent. Few albums have a strong an opener as “Distant Early Warning”.
-
Brent's Album Reviews
melodic, dark, powerful and bold

The quality of performance on this album is fantastic. Geddy’s vocals are certainly improved on this album.
