Vibe
Her first project Got It Made will be the blueprint for GRND.WRK.
-
Stereogum
Got It Made is short and stripped-down, full of bubbling keyboards and drum-machine handclaps. Absolutely nothing about the tape attempts to replicate current rap trends, or even to engage with them. Instead, Kamaiyah takes us into her world, making the sort of music that works with her style and sensibility.

HNHH
Kamaiyah's Got It Made: breaking the ice with Jay-Z & remaining genuine.
-
Brooklyn Vegan
Kamaiyah is still really good at sounding like Kamaiyah and reminds you that no one else really sounds like her. It feels a little harder and colder than A Good Night in the Ghetto, which always sounded like a warm summer day no matter what time of year you listened to it, but it’s still largely cut from the same super-fun G-Funk bounce as that album.
-
Revolt
Got It Made sees 10 new tracks, with additional assistance from Capolow, J. Espinosa and Trina — the latter of whom traded bars with her younger counterpart on the single “Set It Up.”
-
Hip Hop DX
The modest 10-track effort includes guest spots from J. Espinosa, Trina and Capolow. Earlier this month, Kamaiyah shared a video for “Set It Up” featuring Trina, which followed the two women as they wreaked havoc on Los Angeles.

-
Hypebeast
Got It Made follows her 2017 effort Before I Wake, a project that released fresh off of Kamaiyah’s XXL Freshman selection. Some three-plus years later, she continues to champion the patented nostalgic g-funk sound with a matured ear, working alongside the long-time producers like Trackademics and CT Beats. This project is also the first to be released through her own GRND.WRK imprint after years of label turmoil didn’t necessarily push her career forward.
-
Rap Radar
Still making noise out of the Bay, Kamaiyah’s living her best life on her new LP, Got It Made. On the latest effort, the Bay Area rapper is that bitch, as she glorifies all over her lead single, “Still I Am“. Girl power trumps all on her collaboration with Trina, “Set It Up“. Made up of 10 tracks, other guests include J Espinosa (“Get Ratchet”), and Capolow (“Digits”).
-
Forbes
Over the course of a half hour across ten tracks, Kamaiyah flexes her rhyming muscles in ways that prove her prowess for anyone who may have doubts. The project is light on features, with its standout collaborative moment coming in the form of “Set It Up,” a twerk-tastic duet with longtime legend Trina. Tracks like “Still I Am” and “Digits” with fellow Oaklander Capolow serve as the tape’s more radio-ready outings, while Kamaiyah easily commands the big-bass beats of “1-800-IM-HORNY” and “Mood Swings” that would have the potential to trip up any unprepared rapper.
-
Thizzler
Got It Made features ten new slaps from the Oakland all-star rapper including the hit single “Set It Up” which features another one of the baddest ladies in the game, Trina.
-

For fans since day one, Kamaiyah’s return to independence is something to celebrate – as is her investment in the local music economy her album Got it Made .

Pitchfork
Got It Made follows Kamaiyah’s previous two mixtapes, 2016’s A Good Night in the Ghetto and 2017’s Before I Wake. Both of those projects were self-released.

ABC News Radio
West coast rapper Kamaiyah releases her independent project Got It Made today, under her label GRND.WRK, which includes the ladies anthem "Set It Up" featuring Trina. From the "Intro" to "10 Toes High," every song is an example of her particular sound-blending 90s west coast rap, reminiscent of N.W.A, Too $hort and E-40, with the same Cali flare that pushed present day rappers like Nipsey Hussle and Kendrick Lamar to the front.

Hot 96.9
Got It Made serves as the follow up to Kamaiyah’s 2017 mixtape Before I Wake and her 2019 single “Windows.” The Oakland native’s debut was released on her own label GRND. WRK.
-
Uproxx
Kamaiyah demonstrates exactly how properly execute a rap comeback with Got It Made, her first new album since 2017. The key to sticking the landing: Deliver more of the feel-good vibes and sing-along rhymes that made her breakout mixtape, A Good Night In The Ghetto, so appealing, then ladle on just enough references to her last few difficult years to come across more seasoned than salty.
-
The Guardian
A steady stream of tracks followed (including one with Tyga and Quavo), and now Kamaiyah has released a new full-length project, the mixtape Got It Made. Initial single Set It Up puts aside the melodic delivery for bouncy brashness, as she and Miami rapper Trina fiercely castigate the men who have wronged them. It feels like there’s a renewed confidence here, and though Kamaiyah has undoubtedly been one to watch since she first appeared on the scene, things seem to be coming together at last.

Flipboard
On her new mixtape Got It Made, released independently on her own Grnd.Wrk label after her departure from Interscope, Kamaiyah sounds newly refreshed and self-reliant. Half act of self-care, half immeasurable flex, it places her in the lineage of Oakland mack rappers like Too Short and Dru Down. The tape is a multifaceted consideration of self-sufficiency—escaping the thumb of domineering labels, ignoring bad boyfriends, and confronting haters.

AOTY
There’s moments of brilliance, but it’s mired with a significant number of low points, which bog down what is a decent project.
-
East Bay Express
Got It Made is Kamaiyah's first project as an independent artist, and she's already dropped the singles "Still I Am" and "Set It Up," featuring Miami's "diamond princess" Trina. The video for "Set It Up" is a sight to behold. The duo holds court on the gritty streets, armed with baseball bats and impeccable style, preparing to exact some violent retribution for the sins of an unidentified man.

Ratings Game Music
Today, the Oakland native decided to feed the streets with a brand new EP called Got It Made. Does she step outside of her box on the project? Not at all, as most of the tracks on it feature Bay Area vibes. At the end of the day, though, Mike never tried to rap like Pac, Pac never tried to sing like Mike. Got It Made features guest appearances by Trina, J. Espinosa, and Capolow.

COS
“Set It Up” is a thumping revenge banger. Kamaiyah vows to “spend a rack for every bitch that he been texting,” and that’s just to start. “His cards, Imma spend those/ Imma slash his tires and bust out all his windows.” She’s aiming for fiscal annihilation. On “Set It Up”, Kamaiyah is joined by the veteran rapper Trina. She slides into the pocket of the beat, ending a series of lines with the word “boy” just to slap syllables across the boy’s face. With infectious hand claps, and crips production from Kenny Produced It and DJ Banks, revenge has rarely sounded so cold.

Hype Off Life
She comes through with a new 10-track project, ‘Got It Made‘. Featuring guest appearances from J. Espinosa, Capolow and a previously released single with Da Baddest Bitch, Trina, “Set It Up“, the mixtape finds Kamaiyah in her bag, rhyming about all types of boss talk over deep hard-hitting production the West Coast is known for. Leaving all that’s left to say is ‘Got It Made‘ bangs.
