AV Club - Music
March 24, 2008. The first Alan Jackson record penned entirely by the honey-voiced country superstar, Good Time doesn't suffer from one man carrying the full songwriting load. If anything, Jackson could have gotten away with writing less.

Slant Magazine
March 2, 2008. . . . Good Time plays like a protracted mea culpa and engages in the kind of open demo-baiting to which Jackson has very rarely stooped over the course of his nearly two-decade career
-
The New York Times
February 24, 2008. In its own way, “Good Time” is just as audacious as what came before. It has 17 songs (a lot for a country album), and it is the first album of his career that has only one name — his — in the songwriting credits.

PopMatters
March 27, 2008. An at-ease variety show of an album, with fantasy in the driver's seat, but the cold wind of reality right behind.
-
Country Music Central
March 8, 2008. This album is a “good time” from beginning to end and shows off Alan at his best. This is proof that solid traditional country does still fit in with the modern sounds being produced lately and that Alan Jackson will be around to keep it alive as long as he can. It is quite lengthy and can seem drawn out, but it’s definatly worth the listen.

Country Standard Time
March 12, 2008. Good times for "Good Time": Alan Jackson CD is number one. "Good Time" reunites Jackson with longtime producer Keith Stegall and marks his return to traditional country after his "Precious Memories" and "Like Red on a Rose" albums.

AllMusic
March 4, 2008. Unsurprisingly given its length, Good Time drifts amiably and takes its time, lingering on its ballads and gliding through the faster tunes, sustaining a cheerful mood. It's so easy to enjoy that it takes a bit of attention to dig out the true gems lying here, and there are many . . . .

Entertainment
March 3, 2008. Rarely a prolific writer, Alan Jackson composed all 17 tunes this time for Good Time, and almost every cut is steeped in contentedness.

Nuts About Country
March 17, 2008. Alan Jackson's new album kicks off with the title cut Good Time but the track that best sums up the entire album is "(You've Got Me) Right Where I Want You." No doubt, as the end of track seventeen nears, this will be exactly what the famously humble, dynamic, laid back, Mr. Jackson will be secretly thinking because he has got to know that he has delivered a homerun with this amazing album.

Plugged In
This disc represents the best and worst of country music. Great moments, but faith and homespun values give way to alcohol and good ol' boy posturing.
-
Apple iTunes
Good Time is Jackson’s first album of all original compositions, and at 17 songs and 71 minutes, the album is an affirmation of how comfortable he is with nothing but a pen and a guitar.

People
March 10, 2008. At some 70 minutes, Good Time is a bit of a long haul. But with material this solid, it’s pretty easy to kick back and enjoy the trip.
