good girl gone bad

Good Girl Gone Bad is the third studio album by Barbadian singer Rihanna. It was released on May 31, 2007, by Def Jam Recordings and SRP Records. Rihanna worked with various producers on the album, including Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, Terius "Dream" Nash, Neo da Matrix, Timbaland, Carl Sturken, Evan Rogers and StarGate. Inspired by Brandy Norwood's fourth studio album Afrodisiac (2004), Good Girl Gone Bad is a pop, dance-pop and R&B album with 1980s music influences. Described as a turning point in Rihanna's career, it represents a departure from the Caribbean sound of her previous releases, Music of the Sun (2005) and A Girl like Me (2006). Apart from the sound, she also endorsed a new image for the release going from an innocent girl to an edgier and more sexual look. -WIKIPEDIA

She's still a long way away from developing a recognizable personality, but at this rate, she's never going to need one.

Good Girl Gone Bad is far from a great album, but it guarantees Rihanna, who’s unequivocally a singles artist, at least a few more shiny hits to tuck under her belt.

Three cheers for her declaration that 'once a good girl goes bad, she's gone forever'. If being bad does this for Rihanna, then being good, is like, totally overrated.

Rihanna works with edgier and wittier verse than on her two previous albums.

Beyonce's superstar status is not in danger, but she should hand her A&R man a copy of this album.

What the songs lack in lyrical innovation they more than make up for in transporting rhythms.

[She] is ill-suited to the swerve into dance-pop territory that dominates the first half.

Overall, the album has some of the best pop-tunes I've heard in a while, and i can see keeping some of the songs for a while.

Now that Rihanna has persuasively made the case that she's got staying power, the question existing is, as she says, whether she's reached her limit. My vote says she hasn't. But you know how it goes in the world of music. We'll have to stay tuned.

the Bajan star has shed her innocent image and replaced it with a more sexed-up/edgier sound.

'Good Girl Gone Bad' runs out of steam towards the end, but there are enough hook-laden tracks to hold it together as Rihanna's strongest and most cohesive album to date.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there are four or five singles released from this album – I think it’s that good.
