God's Son

God's Son is the sixth studio album by American rapper Nas, released on December 13, 2002, by Ill Will and Columbia Records. Production took place during 2001 to 2002, and was handled by several producers, including Salaam RemiChucky ThompsonRon BrowzEminem, and The Alchemist. Partly inspired by Nas' feud with Jay-Z and the death of his mother in early 2002, God's Son covers lyrical themes such as religion, violence, and his own emotional experiences. It has been recognized by music writers as a personal work by Nas. -Wikipedia

If his rivalry with Jay fueled a partial comeback on Stillmatic, God's Son amasses him even more tumultuous ammunition. Not a bad recovery for a year and a half's work.

With an album filled with nothing but highlights, it’s hard to mention one track without feeling like you’re neglecting another. The Last Real Nigga Alive, is giving people something to talk about, completely obliterating Jay-Z without even flat-out dissing him.

One of the best Nas albums, which has Nas finding religion, which was a good choice.

But even on the worst tracks, Nas’ talent is still impossible to deny, and he may yet have another masterpiece in him. Either way, he’s hip-hop’s Comeback Playa of the Year.

It's his unique vision of the world that we feel privileged to get a taste of 14 tracks at a time. God's Son might not be Nas' best dish, but it's still a four-course meal worth savoring…even if it's not Illmatic.
