Critic Reviews
Show All-
Complex
The production has improved and Cardi sounds more battle-tested, but the record doesn’t stray too far from the Vol. 1 mixtape.
-
The Paper
Somehow, she has stayed true to her roots and at the same time leveled up in so many ways.
-
Hot New Hip Hop
It is 10 tracks long and replete with bangers -- a useful introduction to the budding 24-year-old.
-
Paper Magazine
An unapologetically tenacious record
-
The Paper
Some elements of the album fall flat compared to these new peaks. “Never Give Up” featuring Josh X is sleepier than any of the other tracks and feels out of place. The last two tracks, “Pull Up” and “Pop Off,” are bangers on their own but they feel too repetitive of the types of hardhitting lyrics and beats that make the beginning of the mixtape so strong.

Complex
The production has improved and Cardi sounds more battle-tested, but the record doesn’t stray too far from the Vol. 1 mixtape: We hear the 24-year-old Bronx native continue to spit rhymes about pride, fearlessness, and, of course, throwing hands.

Hot New Hip Hop
Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 2 is 10 tracks long and replete with bangers -- a useful introduction to the budding 24-year-old.
-
The Source
Cardi once again flexes her lyrical muscle and stands up for women to be themselves in a man’s world filled with double standards, but takes a different approach delivering an in your face middle finger to her haters.

NME
Gangsta Bitch Music volumes one and two were filled with icy trap beats and hilarious, sassy-as-fuck oneliners and breathtakingly rude putdowns.
