While Frozen II is even stingier with songs than the slight Frozen, much of what's here leaves a lasting impression with both emotional and musical might.

The whole album is wonderful, but it has unattainably big snowshoes to fill.

. . . the original songs of Frozen II are epic, hopeful, fun, emotional, and above all, catchy.

. . . there’s a sameness about the songs, in that most are framed as stentorian pronouncements of the character’s current emotional state, one which invariably goes from insecurity and doubt to delusional self-assurance. These songs aren’t clever and, . . . they’re not even witty. They’re pretty much the same thing every time, and in the same way.

Based off the soundtrack alone, there are some songs that are worthy follow ups to the original, but none of them top the immediate allure of songs like “Let it Go,” “For the First Time in Forever,” or “Love is an Open Door.”

This album is unquestionably worth a listen. . . . The original soundtrack is better, but Frozen II brings its own spin to 2019. And when it offers something fresh, its snow joke.

The film's greatest flaw is its so-so soundtrack. The songs are mediocre and truly forgettable, despite having been written by the same duo, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

So does the new Frozen 2 soundtrack hold up to all that hype? Yeah, pretty much.

. . . Don’t listen to the soundtrack before seeing the film. Not only do the isolated tunes not do justice to their surprising place in the darker, more dangerous narrative showcased in Frozen 2, . . . .

The songs are first-rate, the score is if anything even better than the first film’s – Frozen II is a very fine musical package.

The lyrics this time are straightforward, less playful. It’s a more emotional album than the first, more mature and internal.

The secret to enjoy this new album is to let go of the vibrant and shaken beats of the first movie and being prepared to listen to Anna and Elsa in a brand new vibe. Frozen 2 brings a deeper, darker and more mature trail.

The songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are bangers, naturally, and parents might be glad to discover that the catchiest song on the soundtrack isn’t an Elsa belter, but a pitch-perfect ’80s power ballad sung by Kristoff . . . .

Songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez have offered seven — six, if we’re being honest — original songs and they’re all lovely, rooted in Broadway traditional structures and each playing a key role in keeping the animated film moving. None will spend 33 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts like “Let It Go” but they deserve to be cherished on their own merits.

The songs in Frozen 2, written by Frozen veterans Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, are grand, epic, and catchy. . . . the music of Frozen 2 is modern with every more Broadway fanfare, bringing freshness to the sequel’s soundtrack.
