Pop Matters
There are also no duds with the six originals and two covers in the form of Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" and "Meet on the Ledge" by Fairport Convention. But the best has been saved for last. "Black Smoke Rising" is the best rock song I have heard all year (that chorus!).

When people listen to the new tracks, gone will be the Zeppelin comparisons, replaced with admiration on how they take the influences of 60’s and 70’s rock to forge their own sound.

With the double EP, we get a taste of what a full album will look and feel like. And, if this is just a taste, I can’t imagine what the full meal has in store. Bravo, boys. Rock is alive and well with Jake, Danny, Josh, and Sam.

Brand new Greta Van Fleet are awesome, loud, crooning, rock. They are enormously entertaining, energetic, and talented in the fast played guitar, but mosty songs like “Black Smoke Rising”, “Highway Tune”, “Flower Power” even more entirely, and “Talk In the Street” as well, are all awesome and inspiringly gleeful, even skill-wise amazing at times.

Their debut album, "From the Fires" has everything one could possibly want from a rock and roll record- screaming guitars all over this thing, staggering basslines to keep the groove moving, organs reminiscing back to the golden days of rock, and that voice.
