From King to God introduces a dark, understated sheen to Conway’s hard-as-nails boom-bap, while conserving all its original grit.

Conway offers a formidable remembrance for those he’s lost, and a proper gateway for a hopeful future. He’s definitely hurting at the moment, but if From King to a God proves anything, it’s that none of us are bigger than the universe. We’re just all trying to form meaningful relationships before it’s too late.

He’s proof that greatness has no time or age constraints and that grown men can create impactful art in hip-hop without chasing the latest trends. From King to a GOD sees Conway taking his rightful place in the game in real time.

After years of hype, this album certainly lived up to my expectations & only enhances my excitement for God Don’t Make Mistakes through the roof. Not only is Conway the most versatile he’s ever been before, but you can really hear how much he’s grown both as an artist & as a person throughout the years.

Conway’s Buffalo, NY bred crew Griselda has unyieldingly left a stamp on the rap game. This body of work feels like the most complete they’ve released to date. It holds all the elements of a person while remaining true, but most importantly, the bars are airtight.

The path to godly power Conway takes on this record is more than just amassing wealth and influence. To become a god is to become more human, to accept one’s flaws and vices and learn from mistakes. Conway is well on his way to the path of divinity, having dropped one of the hardest hitting records of the year in terms of beats, bars, and sentiments. He may not be a god yet, but Conway will give his heart out to become one.

a consistently striking and highly collaborative full-length that, despite its hospitable quality, is the Griselda member's most exemplary solo release yet -- his most considered display of grim street bulletins and snarling admonitions.

The rapper's lyricism is unmatched on his latest work that features a host of other top artists in the field and tackles a wide range of themes.

Forceful and atmopsheric, ‘From A King To A God’ punches through the glass ceiling, its purposeful swagger leering out of the speakers. His third full length project in 2020, ‘Conway The Machine has hit escape velocity – where he goes from here is entirely his decision.

“From King to a GOD” delivered on all fronts. Conway’s pen game is firing on all cylinders throughout the album and the production is also versatile enough to not make the record feel exhausting in any sense. Given that this is a debut album, it’s safe to say that Conway’s musical odyssey has only just begun and it will certainly be interesting to see what he’ll come up with in the future.

But with all positive and negative criticism aside, the statement that Conway the Machine is an advocate of “real hip hop” and “the music we need”, is far from exaggerated. I will be excited for any new upcoming projects from Conway.

Griselda has been rather hit-or-miss over the years, but this project sees Conway concentrating many of the greatest strengths of the sound and the movement into a mostly enjoyable listen. With quite a few mindbending lyrical passages, this should be a must-hear for anyone who appreciates classic hip-hop.

This is a fantastic hip hop release, a well received solo joint that will have people rethinking their Albums of the Year lists. It won’t leapfrog some of my other favourite joints from 2020 such as the Recognize Ali releases, Jamo Gang and others, but it deserves to be in the discussion.
