Pitchfork
The formula’s limitations are evident on Father of Asahd: There are plenty of voices but no clear message or intention. The world seems colder than it did in 2015, and Khaled’s platitudes no longer function as an effective anchor.
-
Rollingstone
Surprisingly, the album’s strongest cuts are its deepest: It peaks midway with a soulful, emotionally resonant stretch that begins with “Higher,” a typically striving rap from the late Nipsey Hussle with worthy support from John Legend.
-
Hiphop DX
These gems come and go too quickly almost like a Khaled ad-lib in the wind. And even though Asahd’s daddy has the pop audience checking for him, he will eventually have to flip the script on his unoriginal albums or his gang of famous friends may become as bored as the listeners.
-
NME
‘Father of Asahd’ isn’t perfect, and the celebratory baller vibe can get a little tiresome at times. However, this time round, whenever Khaled shouts “Another one!”, his catchphrase, it actually feels merited. DJ Khaled’s true talent lies in bringing people together , though his musical credentials remain debatable.
-
Variety
Even a guest list including Justin Bieber, Jay-Z and Beyonce can't keep the party going, though Nipsey Hussle has a proud posthumous moment. Rather than be another advertisement for his brand, you actually got the feeling that Khaled was serving up (or selling) genuine soul.
-
Billboard
Despite a few blunders, Khaled's assembled team of All-Stars gives him more than a fighting chance to hold down the summer once again.
-
Highs Nobiety
Father of Asahd, like all of Khaled’s albums before it, is like an all-star game – an exhibition that has little bearing on the careers of its participants. Nothing has changed on Khaled’s 11th studio album, Father of Asahd, except for the fact that he has a kid now and has stopped inviting Ace Hood to the studio.
-
Hot New Hiphop
Father of Asahd certainly illustrates a need for the residual past to exist right now. But therein lies the issue with many of DJ Khaled's crowd-sourced efforts. Whatever Father of Asahd lacks in subject material, it surely makes up for in notoriety.

The Ratings Game
Sometimes you can tell when a project means something special to someone; I can tell “Father of Asahd” meant something special to DJ Khaled. While you get his usual antics on it , you also get some pretty riveting music that will make you cry from either joy or sorrow. But in the end of the day, I thought the album was choppy, shifted gears a lot, and was somewhat forgettable.

NZ Herald
Father of Asahd is not bad, it's not good, it's just there. Much like Janet from accounts, or poor wee Asahd stuck on the cover of an album bound for the vault.
-
Exclaim
DJ Khaled knows how to produce a hit with any number of artists, but his 2019 effort could have used some more growth like Asahd.
-
The Block
DJ Khaled definitely gave us ANOTHER ONE! Father Of Asahd is full of classics that you won’t forget. Father Of Asahd is a MUST HEAR!
-
Pop Dust
On Father of Asahd, his eleventh studio album, Khaled carries on this tradition of mixing up some incredible collaborations and showcasing talented artists. It definitely shows that he is making moves in the direction of his full potential.

Laviasco
‘Father of Ashad’ is really a hot mess. The album has very little to offer in terms of anything likable and enjoyable on this project. However, I don’t think it is the fault of any of these artists necessarily for the songs being unlistenable.
-
Shifter
All in all, this album was an amazing body of work with its finely tailored production, its plethora of nostalgic samples, and a lineup of great artists.
-
Sloppy Vinyl
This was a solid project from Khaled may actually be really good once the summer officially hits. “Higher” was the epitome of Nipsey, and the fact all the money from this track goes to his family makes it all the better to stream it all day. This isnt a top 5 album or anything but it will get us therough the summer .

The Anomaly Diary
Father of Asahd has some good songs but the overall package is not good. DJ Khaled has once again proven that he can bring artists together and make good music but it doesn’t work all the time.
-
FM Hiphop
This album in its entirety was a masterpiece and I think you will agree!
-
The Fresh Committee
Overall, Father of Asahd is a fun record with strong production and dream collaborations but the record often times fall short because of lack of cohesion both on the songs and on the project as a whole. If you’re looking for a cool collection of singles to ride around in the whip too real loud then this is the perfect project for you.

Music Matters Media
Ironically, it is when things slow down on a more reflective, deeper feel, that the album actually reaches its peak! Which is new twist for Khaled. Call it progression, or succession, but all in all Father Of Asahd is exactly what we expected. A well formulated orchestra, as only DJ Khaled could do. And we’ll take another one!
