Pitchfork
Matthew Tyler Musto’s latest album feels like a time capsule for this cursed year, a nauseating sludge of every “Study Beats” playlist and every TikTok influencer’s attempt at writing a hit.

Overall, blackbear continues to express his love for the internet by partaking in sounds similar to those that are viral and by using trends to influence him. everything means nothing is a satisfying end to a summer of Tik Tok songs hitting the radio and pop culture references that will be everlasting.

The Redledger
Overall, “Everything Means Nothing” exemplifies who blackbear is as an artist and caters to his audience and his audience only. There’s a good balance between catchy songs that you can dance to in the bathroom, and deep-cutting songs filled with relatable lyrics that can make you cry.

The Musical Hype
Suffering from heartbreak, the pain of pop musician blackbear on everything means nothing is the listener’s gain.

Ratings Game Music
everything is nothing is a borderline great album that I think will never get old.

Everything Means Nothing Is Really Something.

No Ripcord
This might be the ideal music for getting drunk, but it’s also the audio equivalent of a hangover: exhausting, numbing, and never-ending.
-
The Daily Nebraskan
As a whole, “everything means nothing” is a brutally honest breakup album full of alt-leaning pop songs that perfectly encompass all the feelings and emotions associated with the aftermath of a relationship. It uses a lyrical vocabulary that makes the album easily relatable for teens and young adults and accomplishes its goal as an energetic album for the darkest days.

The Lazy Music Guru
While I wasn't a huge fan of his 2019 album, I am definitely more intrigued by this album. I know that people might complain and say that he is too 'mainstream', but I am honestly liking this sound more than his past. I guess more people can relate to this music rather than some of his darker music from his previous albums.
