The fifth studio album from Sabrina Carpenter, Emails I Can’t Send, is a hugely personal explosion of intimacy, and also her best album yet.

Culled Culture
Luckily, Carpenter’s word vomit is our pop music gold. Much to Rodrigo’s chagrin. And while both albums end on a “let’s just end this like we should and say we’re good” note, Rodrigo’s “hope ur ok” (which isn’t directed at Bassett at all) sounds a little too zen compared to what Carpenter has to offer on “decoded” and emails i can’t send as a whole.

Northern Transmissions
She’s already grown immensely since her debut, and emails i can’t send is a worthy display of her talents. It’s not exactly airtight, but a sturdy and enjoyable collection of songs nevertheless.

On the Bulletin
Emails is unlikely to move the needle for Sabrina outside of some relatively strong first-week numbers. This isn’t because she lacks the capability to create a body of work that can move the needle, it’s because there’s a disconnect between her vision and the execution. New collaborators will definitely help, but Sabrina also needed to establish a clear sound for this album; she gets lost in the sprawling spread of disparate musical influences. Emails I Can’t Send simply fails to live up to the potential of its overarching concept.

The Indiependent
Although this is Sabrina Carpenter’s fifth studio album, it could be referred to as her actual debut. It takes on the role of reintroducing the singer to the world, and it does it in the most genuine way possible. It doesn’t sweep hurt under the rug and, in fact, welcomes the cathartic cleanse that can seem like the scariest thing sometimes.

The Nuance Magazine
Overall, “email I can’t send” is a beautiful, nostalgic album that shows Sabrina Carpenter’s intimacy and vulnerability. Listening to her songs truly is a therapeutic experience that is worth spending time for all music fans; as she shared on Instagram: "this feels really surreal; I kind of had to unlearn myself and learn myself again in order to make this album. it’s the one I’m most proud of thus far in my life. it’s the one I hope you listen to and feel like we were hanging and confiding in each other for an hour".
