Eclipse is actually not a complete return to either form, but rather something in between

It takes 17 minutes and 39 seconds to hit the first satisfyingly Journey-sounding moment on Eclipse

The remarkable achievement called "Eclipse" is the living proof that evolution is the source of the musical existence. With new air in their lungs, JOURNEY gives a real treat to their fans and the Rock audience generally.

Eclipse is a big-sounding, overblown rock album. There are cannonfire drums, heaps of bluster and so many wailing guitar solos that listening to it is like standing in a wind tunnel.

I came to Eclipse with a wide-open mind and, admittedly, more goodwill than I did with their previous effort, but I’m still walking away disappointed.

if all you want is great production and a new CD from Journey, you’ll get both here. But if you want great, classic melodies that will stick in your head for hours after you press stop, you better put in an old classic

The band have taken their trademark sound and incorporated a layer of guitar based progressive rock to it and have come up with an album that should be a real treat for both JOURNEY followers and classic rock fans equally.

It’s no often you hear albums this beautifully realized today and even rarer that a band that has been around this long can put out a record of such amazing power and feeling. What we have here is probably one of the best of Journey’s long career.
