  • New Noise

Bad Wolves’ first release is proof positive that melodic metal doesn’t have to be neutered in order to attempt to appeal to the masses.

The verdict stands that Bad Wolves are looking to make an impression in any and all places they can. They are seeking to make a huge statement and Disobey will do just that for them.

There has been a massive void on the contemporary side of heavy music in recent times. BAD WOLVES is poised to move in for the kill.

Blew me away me with how heavy and solid it was, and I can definitely say after hearing this that Bad Wolves is a band with a lot of potential.

Neglects to build on the hype, missing out on some truly undeniable talent just waiting dormant. Bad Wolves have a lot going for them… just none of it’s here.

With no limitations to any stylistic traits, this is an album that can serve as a bridge between anthemic pop and brutal heaviness, or between the old and the new. Embrace this slab of modern metal now and you’ll be in for a pleasant surprise.

Ultimately, Bad Wolves are catchy yet slaughtering, embracing big things while thumbing their collective nose at conformity, and that makes Disobey worth checking out.

This album is filled with so much intensity, emotion, and passion. Every member of this band brought their A-game and have crushed the competition.

Yes, the actual sounds of Bad Wolves are exciting, but there’s nothing here in these words and howls that hasn’t been said before.

There’s always plenty of talk around who the next “big band” is going to be, and here we have the arrival of Bad Wolves, fully developed yet ripe and hungry and catapulted straight into the A-leagues. It’s a good job Disobey has the chops to keep them there, then.

So some will think that 'Disobey' is to heavy, some will think it's too light. I, like Goldilocks, think it is just right.

They are all veterans and have created a monster of an album that distils down all the best parts of what brought them to the dance and leaves you with a brand new album to obsess over in the process.

As unassuming as Disobey may prove on the surface, Bad Wolves have enough in their locker to break away from any notions of being just a cover band.

For as good as Zombie is, that really isn’t what Bad Wolves is all about. Disobey is only the first step in the right direction for Bad Wolves.

Bad Wolves’ main strength is its diversity. Each musician’s musical past contributes to Disobey, and the least that we can say if that the final blend is astonishing!

I think that Disobey is just another one of those albums that is really well made but doesn’t make much of an impression. It is enough to just listen to Zombie and if you want an album with that single the best choice has to be No Need to Argue.

  • Toon's Tunes

You can't classify Disobey. It's heavy, very heavy-and-angry-enough for metal fans. Intricate, complex and daring-enough for prog and progressive-metal listeners. Moments of beautiful melody that makes your hair stand on end; lyrics that make you think. The title track jumps right in and there's nothing held back.

One of the main gripes is the length of the record which comes in at 16 tracks – making the album feel clunky at times – but Bad Wolves makes an earnest attempt at breaking into the mainstream with their metal-tinged melodies.
