Demi is the eponymous fourth studio album by American singer Demi Lovato. It was released on May 10, 2013, by Hollywood Records. Looking to transition from their self-described "generic" third album Unbroken (2011), Lovato wanted their fourth album to "have songs that excited [them]".Demi is primarily a pop record with elements of synthpop, and bubblegum pop. -Wikipedia

Rolling Stone
This is industrial-strength pop, and all the better for it. The songwriters include hitmaking heavyweights like Ryan Tedder and Rami Yacoub; the choruses boom; the production has a high-gloss sheen. It's predictable stuff – sassy songs, lovelorn songs, a couple of pop-psych pep talks – but Lovato is good company, and her voice has gustiness and character.

The Highlander
Lovato does have a soft, feminine voice, and parts of “Demi” allows the listener to hear her compassion in her changing tones. Her creativity and originality, though, isn’t quite there yet.

Idolator
At the risk of dwelling too much on Lovato’s past, it’s worth noting how she’s proven that a young starlet (with a Disney pedigree, no less) can be brutally candid about struggling with litany of issues (addiction, mental illness, eating disorders, self-harm) and still be a commercially viable pop star and personality, commanding an army of underage and adult fans who consider her a role model. It’s nothing short of miraculous, and it makes me admire her a whole lot.

AllMusic
ultimately, this isn't an album of purpose, it's a collection of moments, and it has just enough good ones to solidify Demi Lovato's comeback.
