Dancing Queen

Dancing Queen is the twenty-sixth studio album by American singer and actress Cher, released by Warner Bros. Records on September 28, 2018. It is Cher's first album in five years, following Closer to the Truth (2013). The album contains cover versions of songs recorded by Swedish pop group ABBA, with the title referencing their 1976 song "Dancing Queen". The album follows Cher's appearance in the 2018 musical film Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, based on the music of ABBA. - Wikipedia

2018 - The pop icon turns Seventies classics into modern club bangers and brings out the dark burden of their late-career divorce songs.

2018 - In covering the Great Swedish Songbook, aka the ABBA catalog, it's sheer Cher-aoke. But if you're a fan of either artist, extreme fealty may be more of a feature than a flaw.

2018 - It's no musical masterpiece, but Cher's album of Abba covers is joyously camp – and also surprisingly poignant.

2018 - For an artist who’s built an entire third act with her own distinct niche in dance music, the album feels surprisingly derivative.

Dancing Queen – except for one song – has nothing new to say and simply reeks with the appalling stench of greed.

2018 - Heavy synths and Auto-tune worked wonders for Cher in 1998 — it was innovative, even a little enchanting. Flash forward 20 years, and latching onto this style places a taint on these timeless anthems.

2018 - This endearing mix showcases both the disco queen herself, and the talent of ABBA’s writing, in the best possible way, and ensures that that album, like Cher herself, is nothing but sheer entertainment, making it a new gem in the singer’s already iconic career.
