DADA
| Alice CooperDADA
DaDa is the fifteenth studio album by Alice Cooper. It was originally released in September 28, 1983, on the label Warner Bros.. DaDa would be Cooper's last album until his sober re-emergence in 1986 with the album Constrictor. The album's theme is ambiguous, however, ongoing themes in the songs' lyrics suggest that the main character in question, Sonny, suffers from mental illness, resulting in the creation of many different personalities. The album alludes strongly to the dadaist movement: its cover was based on a painting by Salvador Dal titled "Slave Market with the Disappearing Bust of Voltaire". Produced by long-time collaborator Bob Ezrin, at the time his first production with Cooper in six years, DaDa was recorded at ESP Studios in Buttonville, Ontario, Canada. Wikipedia
Critic Reviews

Ultimate Classic Rock
2017 - Even in a severely compromised state, Cooper was capable of disturbingly great music.
-
Metal Storm
DaDa is a creepy album in the truest sense; some of this does stem from the unconventional twists and carnival-of-the-damned theatricality, but even when the nightcrawling terror of the opener vanishes, there is something indescribably off about this album.

Musoscribe
2010 - Cooper created a compelling work on Dada.

Subjective Sounds
2018 - DaDa is exceptional. It’s an album I can't live without and I dare say people will be dissecting this record forever, trying to figure out exactly what it’s about and what was going through Cooper’s head at the time.

DaDa is one of the most fascinating albums in the Alice Cooper catalogue. So interesting in fact that this is the second time I’ve tackled a review of it.

All Music
this one is really far above average. It seems to be one of his albums that tried to merge the older, creepy style with a newer, more alternative style.

Music is My Radar
2012 - This album is forgettable in almost every way.
-
Kramer Tunes Blog
at least 5 of the 9 songs stand up to repeated listening, which is a very good hit-to-miss ratio

Masterpiece. There is no other word for this.
-
Only Solitaire
The Surrealistic Psychoanalytic album. Deep, cleverly crafted, and as sincere as they come.

1983 - With further spinning, this could well become a latter day A.C. classic because 'Da Da' already sounds better than anything he's done in yonks. Thank goodness for Alice!!!
