Cry.
| Faith HillCry.
Cry is the fifth studio album by American country music singer Faith Hill. It was released October 15, 2002, via Warner Bros. Nashville and sold 472,486 copies in its first week, a career best for Hill. The album was intended as a crossover project for her, and although three of its singles were released to country radio, none reached the top ten. The title track and "One" were both adult contemporary hits, however, with the former spending 11 weeks at number one. -Wikipedia

Never mind that Faith Hill is actually underrated as a record maker, not unlike her nearest rival, Shania Twain. There are other, more ignoble reasons to appreciate these crossover queens, even forgetting the eye-candy factor.

Taste of Country
With 'Cry,' Hill picked up where 'Breathe' (1999) left off in pushing for a sound that would cross over. It worked, but the success came at the expense of country credibility.

All Music
Lavishly produced and packaged, Cry marks the continued ascent of Faith Hill from the lowlands of down-home authenticity to the heights of pop superstardom.

Seasoned with Love
This CD really is Drenched with Emotion and Saturated in the most intimate stories of the Soul

Plugged In
Mrs. Tim McGraw’s tunes delight in virtue, personal redemption and selfless love.

Her song selection is adequate, and she is in fine voice throughout. Hill’s best vocal comes when she veers more toward traditional country territory on the breakup ballad “Stronger,” the album’s most powerful track.
