Critic Reviews
Show All-
Pitchfork
An entire project full of Snoop chanting that he's the greatest, and all it took was one isolated track to prove it.
-
Consequence of Sound
West Coast legend continues to do whatever he wants, and finds mostly solid footing.
-
Hip Hop DX
But overall Snoop makes a strong case against ageism as he fuses the adult contemporary and Gangsta Rap genres.
-
Mr. Wavvy
The project has its moments but is overall messy, unfocused, and lacking general inspiration. It is safe to say that this is Snoop's weakest album in the past 5 years.
-
The Gaurdian
Its back half loses coherence as Snoop retreats to a default of weed anthems.
-
Sputnik Music
Do not drink the COOLAID.
-
XX Magazine
We get a strong dose of the old school Snoop we love and know while getting a little taste of the more distinguished Doggfather.
-
The National
Snoop Dogg’s strongest set in a decade.
-
All Music
As comfortable as it is cool.
-
Pop Matters
What you get is an emcee that has the potential to create another classic but hasn’t capitalized on it, and it shows on Coolaid.
-
Above Average Hip Hop
The album seems to have three very distinct lanes, thick, syrupy, west coast funk, music to crip to, and filler.
-
The Young Folks
It’s a quality that allows this album to have enough replay value for those cool summer days and nights.
-
UInterview
The West Coast rapper is back in the game, making a stand for his legacy and thriving on self-indulgent raps.
-
Richer Sounds
One of his best releases for a while, proving versatility and longevity, staying relevant without losing what makes a great Snoop Dogg record.
-
Exclaim
Snoop's return to G-funk proving refreshing enough to keep listeners' thirst quenched.
-
We Plug Good Music
Snoop Dogg, overall, has come with enough funky moments to please long-time fans, and also has enough exploratory moments that convey his ever evolving nature.
-
The Musical Hype
Coolaid is too long, but Snoop drops bombs.
-
Amnplify
He should stick to what he knows, and that’s showing us what it’s like to be a rap legend: he doesn’t need to try too hard for that.
-
Empire Extreme
This is the perfect album for driving and smokin’ up. Let the beat drop and just cruise.
-
Juice
The redemption of the Kimmel-late-night announcement "gangsta rap is back" remains Snoop despite any highlights in any case guilty.
-
Sharps Reviews
This album has some highlights in it, but misses enough steps that it isn’t cohesive all the way through. At its current length, it can be work to listen to.
-
Musik Please
Snoop does what he knows how to do, but this album will not enter his legend. Respect all the same! The guy has always known how to stay authentic.
-
Death of the Critic
The first half of this almost 80 minute long album is rather satisfying, but is starts to fail under its own weight with a bloated and somewhat generic latter half.
-
Legends Will Never Die
I do find this to be a solid return to form for Snoop mainly because of Snoop’s technicality on these tracks.
-
Slacker
Snoop's conceptual larks and concept albums have taken over the last decade. Consider this an exciting double-LP throwback
-
SFBOT
With his fourteenth studio album, Coolaid, Snoop’s aiming to prove the doubters wrong.. Snoop Dogg is here to stay,
