Critic Reviews
Show All-
Taste of Country
This is a welcome change of pace from a man who at age 50 shows no signs of losing touch with what's hot.
-
Slant Magazine
Simply too big a personality and too dynamic a singer to get away with something lackadaisical.
-
Billboard
Overall, another solid effort from one of country's finest.
-
All Music
He’s settled into this well-weathered skin on Clancy’s Tavern, winding up with his best album in many a moon.
-
Focus on the 615
Doesn’t disappoint and has not strayed from the type of music that has made him a star outlasting so many others.
-
News OK
Longtime fans can't help but notice recurring thematic and stylistic patterns. But his 2011 efforts are particularly strong.
-
WRHI
Stands out as a clever and engaging record that at the end of the night will have listeners ordering up another.
-
Nuts About Country
Kudos to Keith and crew. Great job. Great album.
-
San Diego Union Tribune
There's nothing fancy here, just simple stories set to acoustic, electric and steel guitars with choruses you'll memorize after a few listens.
-
Country Music Life
Above all else, Toby is a great song craftsman.
-
Minnesota New Country
In my personal opinion, this is the best Toby Keith album.
-
Boston
To be sure, at points the album serves his image, kicking off on an implicitly patriotic note via the heartland portrayal.
-
Lonesome Highway
Keith's music at face value it's country in a way that is immediately recognisable as that.
-
My Kind of Country
Those who try to keep an open mind will find it to be an enjoyable, though not perfect, album.
-
Slacker
Keith is no longer in the flashy phase of his career, and he’s toning down the bravado somewhat.
-
EW
Could almost pass for James Taylor.
-
Today
The biggest ear worm of the bunch is "Red Solo Cup," a ditty written by two sets of brothers who sent it to Keith daring him to record it.
-
FYE
His delivery is unassumingly assured, sounding almost sly.
-
Country Music News International
Just a typical Toby Keith album. Very good songs that have been professionally recorded in the studio.
-
Universal Music Box
Not beholden to twangy Teles and slow-rolling acoustics -- he opens up enough to allow a Caribbean breeze to blow in.
