CHUCK

Chuck is the eponymous twentieth and final studio album by American rock and roll singer and guitarist Chuck Berry. The first studio album in decades by Berry was received positively by critics who considered it a return to form and a poignant last statement. Berry died between the announcement of its recording on his 90th birthday and its release in 2017. It posthumously became his first UK Top 10 chart entry since 1977, debuting at No. 9. -WIKIPEDIA

June 9, 2017 - is simply a delightful, modest, robust, and occasionally poetic rock and roll record of the sort you’d have hoped Berry would have been releasing at least every other year over his lifetime, even though this is his first studio album since 1979.

June 15, 2017 - What keeps Chuck from greatness is the same thing that keeps it from being mundane: its lack of musical ambition. This is both its savior and its crutch.

June 14, 2017 - Although many songs on Chuck sound familiar, it's amazing that no two tracks sound alike. Berry covers a lot of musical ground on Chuck, and most importantly, reveals just how much fun he was still having at the end of his storied life.
