Oct 17, 2007 - 30 years later, Young has decided his new album is a sequel to that career enigma, referencing a chapter only his most dedicated fans would know about.

Oct 12, 2007 - The only thing Chrome Dreams II seems to have in common with its predecessor is a multiplicity of styles: raging rock songs sit alongside gentle country.

Oct 21, 2007 - it’s a return to a time when Young albums felt like ingenious mixtapes—where Crazy Horse tracks, Stray Gators tracks, and duets with Linda Rondstadt intermingled without being jarring in the least.

Oct 22, 2007 - There’s a reasonable argument that this is a good album and not a great one but, like Neil, I’m going to have to stick my neck out and give it what it deserves in the face of the dereliction of duty of those around him.

  • The Observer

Oct 14, 2007 - The 12 tracks are held together by two things: a tremulous kind of optimism that sometimes extends to a dippy faith - an antidote to the righteous anger of Young's last, political outing.

Oct 26, 2007 - Seven new songs polish Chrome Dreams II, which glides past Young's well-meaning but flaccid new millennial output--"Are You Passionate?" (2002), "Greendale" (2003), and "Living With War" (2006)--in pulling alongside 2005's "Prairie Wind," and near some aforementioned career peaks.
