CENSORED COLORS

Censored Colors is the third full-length album from Alaskan experimental rock band Portugal. The Man. The album was released through a partnership with Equal Vision Records on September 16, 2008. This partnership is not a traditional record contract, as the band "could work at their own pace and be intimately involved in all factors of their recording career." -Wikipedia

Vocals aside, musically the album is fantastic and finishes strong. Minimal drums and acoustic guitars mixed with unique vocal styling make Censored Colors a solid third album

  • Altpress

crackles with the kind of salt-of-the-earth soul inspiration for which most indie bands would hack off their Sam Beam beards

  • Rock Freaks

a pretentious, somewhat boring, and ultimately, an entirely forgettable affair that fails to live up to my expectations of this band
