Sound Awfully Defensive on ‘Can’t Say I Ain’t Country.

despite the effort to rewrite the narrative for themselves with the title of the record and terrible “woke” tracks—will only be another entry into the evidence file of their undeserved success.

Can't Say I Ain't Country is a successful blend of the cosmopolitan and country, sounding as assured on soulful slow jams and percolating crossover pop.

this is probably tolerable at rare points on this record is being polite as possible to a duo that’s not only not country, nor have they proven they “get” country, but that’s being nice to a record which overall sucks.

you are also very valuable when you mix with other genres. That is also very valuable for the business. I feel you gave up a bit too much FGL identity to be country – you don’t need to do so. You are country anyway!

It’s easily the best album they’ve released to date, and if they’re able to replicate it in the future, haters might need to consider forgiving Florida Georgia Line for past musical offenses.

Does every single album and song released need to be a masterpiece with a deep meaning? No it doesn’t but it should be enjoyable and put a smile on your face, and for me Can’t Say I Ain’t Country does exactly that.

It's whiplash, but whiplash is en vogue if you haven't noticed. What Florida Georgia Line continue to do better than any other modern country artist is create art for the Twitter and Instagram economy. They're not your granddad's brand of country music because they don't live in your granddad's society. That is an innovator's secret.
