Pitchfork
Blunted on Reality sits squarely at the intersection of New York City and Croix-des-Bouquets, mixing big-city swagger with an outsider’s mentality (ideas best articulated by interludes “Harlem Chit Chat” and “Da Kid From Haiti”).

All Music
It's an album that is best seen as novelty. Devoted fans may wish to seek it out for curiosity's sake, and that's understandable, but no one should approach this album expecting the prequel to The Score.
-
The Quietus
Blunted On Reality is much more than a footnote to the pre-Score career: it's part foundational and part inspirational, and wholly involving and affirming if you open your mind and let it in.

Time is Ilmatic
Blunted On Reality could have baked in the oven for another 30 minutes (or 3 hours), because when the Fugees served it to the world it definitely wasn’t ready. There are a few bright moments on the production side, but most of its mediocre at best.

The Passion of Christopher Pierznik
It’s a fitting a prophetic introduction because Blunted on Reality was an album that never fit with the times.
