The lube-slick but water-soluble Bionic is a party album without a guest list, a sex toy used without self-awareness.

This new album only has brief instances of shiny pop magic, and the rest filled with the end results of poor musical craftsmanship in almost every aspect.

She goes for an electro makeover on Bionic, dressing in Gaga-style robot glam and cranking up the Auto-Tune.

But while the machinery included within isn’t necessarily pieced together properly or as cutting edge as promised, there’s still good enough reason to invest in Aguilera’s latest reboot.

Bionic's 18 tracks march shamelessly into the sewer in a raunchy, desperate attempt to shock listeners who are increasingly resistant to such treatment in the Lady Gaga era.

On Bionic, Aguilera jumps right into Lady Gaga and Ke$ha territory, although her intentions are to present futuristic, hi-tech pop.

In the album's most successful vein — Aguilera plays a hyper-sexed lover bot ready to tie you to the bed posts rather than tie your ears into knots with a well-executed legato.

Perhaps a major disappointment when this album promised so much (great collaborators like Sia, Le Tigre and Peaches), then basically served up the same old thing, which in this post-Gaga world is just not good enough for pop divas anymore.
