It features guest contributions from rapper Jay-Z on "Crazy" and singer Jennifer Hudson on "Leaving Tonight". Because of You debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts, selling over 250,000 copies in its first week and was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, which makes this Ne-Yo's second number one album, second platinum-selling album, and second top ten album in the United States following In My Own Words in 2006. Upon its release, the album received generally positive reviews from most music critics, based on an aggregate score of 74/100 from Metacritic. It won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards in 10 February 2008. - Wikipedia

The album is almost identical to Ne-Yo’s promising debut, last year’s In My Own Words, but, while it starts off strong with the thumping yet melodic title track, nothing here matches the smooth pop of “So Sick” and “Sexy Love,” and there are at least two other young stars out there doing the MJ thing better.

Because of You is just as solid as his last debut.

It’s truly one of the best R&B albums ever made, and no conversation about the neo-soul years is complete without mentioning this silky smooth LP.

Because of You is a polished, high energy album with more than a touch of old-school Michael Jackson flavor.
