Be Myself

Be Myself is the tenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow. The album was released on April 21, 2017, by Wylie Songs and Warner Bros. Records. Produced by Crow and Jeff Trott, who also worked with Crow on her self-titled 1996 album and 1998's The Globe Sessions, it features a return to a more rock-driven sound following Crow's 2013 country album, Feels Like Home. -Wikipedia

Be Myself is somewhat a return to form for Sheryl. It’s nice to hear her revisiting the sound that made her such a breakout star in the first place.

Be Myself would be a pretty good album if it wasn't trying so hard to be Sheryl Crow c1996, but it does still have some good tracks, with the cute and catchy Grow Up standing out as the most original song on offer here.

[Crow's] time-stamped lyrical nods separate these songs from [her] peak nineties work, but they don’t come off as awkward attempts to stay modern. They just stand as reminders of Crow’s remarkable time-tested endurance as a performer.

Fans of Crow’s past work will enjoy this, as she goes back to a more 90’s and spirited mood, but she won’t be gaining any new fans with this release.
