Basic Instinct

Basic Instinct - is the fourth studio album by American singer Ciara. It was released on December 10, 2010, by LaFace Records and Jive Records. Executive-produced by A&R agent Mark Pitts, Ciara, Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, Basic Instinct returns Ciara to her urban roots with mid-tempo R&B cuts and bass-heavy pop and dancesongs. Aside from production by Stewart and The-Dream, Ciara collaborated with production by Soundz, Infinity and T-Minus. Frequent collaborator and friend Ludacris makes a guest vocal appearance, as does labelmate and fellow Atlanta-native, Usher. After her previous album, Fantasy Ride, suffered numerous leaks and pushbacks, information about Basic Instinct was kept confidential until the first single was released and album was complete. - Wikipedia

It’s come late, but Basic Instinct is one of the best RnB albums of the year.

Color me impressed. It’s pretty rare that a singles artist decides, seven years into her career, to make her first concerted effort at an album that works as a front-to-back listen.

Humility isn't a trait often addressed in pop and R&B, and if the rest of "Basic Instinct" -- or anything else on the 11-song release -- were as honest and human, good news would lay ahead.

They cover each base with great accuracy; there’s a bombastic intro, a sleazy club track, some playful pop, and a ballad with a feather-light touch among them.

Even if it does come dangerously close to offensive language on the title track, Ciara's voice and her vibe are generally rather sweet.

Most of the album reflects this; the songstress concentrates on delivering the magnetic simplicity of her original brand of Southern-tinged hip hop and R&B with a mature twist.

This is an album for young ladies to vibe to.. and it’s nothing wrong with that.

Basic Instinct doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's a damn sturdy R&B/dance album.
