Rolling Stone
While the accidental death of singer Bon Scott last February was undoubtedly a big blow to AC/DC, Scott’s untimely demise seems to have lit a roaring fire under this Australian band. Back in Black is not only the best of AC/DC’s six American albums, it’s the apex of heavy-metal art: the first LP since Led Zeppelin II that captures all the blood, sweat and arrogance of the genre. In other words, Back in Black kicks like a mutha.

The Gaurdian
Every year, this gets harder to explain. AC/DC's Back in Black is a preposterous, drongoid record. It's built on casual sexism, eye-rolling double entendres, a highly questionable attitude to sexual consent ("Don't you struggle/ Don't you fight/ Don't you worry/ Cos it's your turn tonight") a penchant for firearms, and a crass celebration of the unthinking macho hedonism that killed the band's original singer. The guitarist, Angus Young, still dresses like a 50s schoolboy, underlining the inveterate puerility of AC/DC's oeuvre. The guitar solos are like endless streams of ejaculate; the vocals suggest a man whose piles are exploding. It really is appalling.

AC/DC's biggest album, the second biggest-selling album of all time, Brian Johnson's debut and the pitch-perfect tribute to Bon Scott

Metal Storm
This album is a jewel of homogeneity, alternating tornado songs with imposing riffs like "What do you do for money honey" and "Shake a leg", with very class tracks such as "Rock'n' roll ain't noise pollution". The album also has tracks that could have been on previous albums, like for example "Let me put my love into you" and "You shook me all night long". And "Back in black", the title track, still remains one of the highlights of the band, thanks to this bluesy touch that perfectly accentuates the catchy riff... No doubt that this is one of the three greatest tracks of ACDC. To sum up, Back In Black is a monument, a pearl that must be owned at any price. Fully dedicated to Bon Scott, this album manages to equal the quality of Let There Be Rock and Highway To Hell. It also celebrates a renewal that has been lasting until nowadays.

That tawdry celebration of sex is what made AC/DC different from all other metal bands -- there was no sword & sorcery, no darkness, just a rowdy party, and they never held a bigger, better party than they did on Back in Black.

Unpopular Opinion: Back in Black Is the Best AC/DC Record

Sputnikmusic
This is nothing but raw, loud, intense Rock at its best. AC/DCs best album IMO, and the total 20 million people that bought the album sinces its release. named 73 on Rolling Stones top 500 album list...which i think is way off anyway, proves that this album peaks almost all others. With this new lineup, Brian Johnson proved he could take AC/DC to new levels...and proved this to be the peak of their success.

In truth, Back in Black is probably one of the greatest albums the Australian band AC/DC ever produced. The record was kind of a turning point in their career (they had no choice.. ). A fresh direction and totally amazing boost of energy – a hurricane of sorts. And nobody really expected it.

The album was an immediate success, hitting No. 1 in Australia, the UK and France and reaching No. 4 in the United States. It was an album that only improved with repeat listens, and years after its release it was still selling strong. The first U.S. single “You Shook Me All Night Long” peaked at No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the title track reached No. 37, yet the album remained on the Billboard chart for 131 weeks.
