Something to treasure from a true R&B icon.

B7 isn’t exclusively a trip down memory lane, but it does cruise past a few old haunts. Brandy’s trademark raspy vocals and sublime harmonies on Rather Be and Lucid Dreams are nostalgia-inducing for anyone who grew up listening to her acrobatic riffs and runs.

Brandy delivers flawless vocals, smooth vibes and effortless storytelling on comeback release and proves her crown is hers alone.

The “vocal bible” of pop R&B returns with her first album in eight years, sounding poised and warm but lacking some spark.

It may have taken almost a decade to arrive, but Brandy’s new album was worth the wait – not simply because of its ear-candy qualities, but also because it has helped one of R&B’s most revered talents find her smile again.

Brandy's confident enough to take you the long way around because, hey.....you've hung around all this time, right? And B7's definitely worth the wait. Highly Recommended.

The good mostly outweighs the bad though, making B7 a very uneven but occasionally solid listen. In the days of COVID, you gotta celebrate the small victories.

After eight years of almost no music from Brandy, she showed up and proved why she is still an R&B star! If there is anything to take away from B7, it’s that she has serious staying power; something not a lot of artists have.

Overall, B7 is a luxurious musical gift with consistency and experimentation working hand in hand to deliver a sensual, momentous experience that shimmers and glistens with thoughtfulness, care and etherealness throughout. If you’re looking to recreate the experience of a live set in isolation, this album might be the next best thing.

  • The Urban Music Scene

More often than not, Brandy hits all of the right notes on B7. Perhaps characterizing her seventh LP as a tour de force would be an overstatement. That said, there are more than enough highlights to make B7 a surefire winning comeback, particularly if you’re that R&B fan longing for that solid, unapologetically R&B album. Mark my words, you won’t leave this comeback disappointed. Vibes, vibes, vibes!

Nevertheless, I will give credit where it’s due, and overall, B7 gets my recommendation. By no means is this a classic album. Still, during a time when the entertainment industry faces change, B7 will tide fans over until we return to a sense of normalcy.

  • Music Xclusives

Although it took eight years between projects, B7 is a comfortable place for an artist of Brandy’s stature without diminishing her legendary status. Just like the song title, Brandy has found love again in herself and music.
