ASYLUM
| KissASYLUM
Asylum is the thirteenth studio album by the heavy metal band Kiss. It is the first with lead guitarist Bruce Kulick as an official band member. He had replaced guitarist Mark St. John on some songs on Animalize (1984) during his absence due to reactive arthritis. Subsequently, Kulick filled St. John's spot during most segments of the Animalize tour. The lineup of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Carr, and Kulick would last until Carr's death in November 1991, while Kulick would stay with the band until the reunion of the original lineup in 1996. -Wikipedia

All Music
a sound that was too similar to other pop-metal bands at the time, as well as unimaginative, predictable songs

The irony is, although Asylum wasn’t as big as Animalize, song for song it’s probably a better album.

Poffy's Movie Mania
2015 - Asylum continues the “hair metal” ethos started with Animalize: heavy enjoyable rock, but with a certain smoothness to its rhythm guitars.

Play it Loud Forever
2012 - As for Asylum, I think it’s an okay album, but not a great one.

If this was indeed Kiss’ first ever recording, do you seriously think they’d still be around today? Answer = ‘No, No, No’ !
