It’s proof alone that this band can do what they want and get away with it.

Bring Me the Horizon deliver an utterly refreshing and forward-thinking statement that finds them in complete control of their vision.
-
The Skinny
After ditching the metalcore almost completely on 2015’s critically acclaimed That’s the Spirit, Sheffield’s genre-smashing trailblazers take it a step further on their most ambitious project to date.
-
INDEPENDENT
Amo won’t satisfy all of BMTH’s fans, but it’s certainly accomplished, catchy and eclectic enough to bring in some new ones.
-
CoS
The onetime metalcore band dives further into pop, dance, and electronic music.
-
No Ripcord
Amo is a strident record, difficult to categorize and, in a good way, uniquely spliced and sequenced with little fear of crossing boundaries--but part of mastering this dark art is knowing when to put the paintbrush down.

THE REFLECTOR
“amo,” in the end, is a forgettable album that may have a single that’ll stick with a listener for a while, but then it will fade out too.
-
Ultimate Guitar
it's a bit of a messy-sounding album, one that's not very confident in its intent, and downright confusing at times.

The fact that Bring Me the Horizon’s metalcore days are far behind them will continue to be a bitter pill for some people to swallow. For the rest of us, a dose of levity and melody are a small step toward salving old wounds.

THE WEEKLY SPOON
Amo have made a major move shows the evolution of a band that progresses the hardcore genre, rather than a band that just follows the trend Bring Me The Horizon starts the trends.

some fans of Bring Me The Horizon may like this album and it will have its audiences, for sure, but most of "Amo" and its tracks don't leave a lot to really love about it.

Amo was an all too necessary record for the music world and for the band.
-
The Friendly Critic
Much of the album has their signature flair, even when it doesn’t necessarily sound like the Bring Me we’re used to.
-
SOUND of PEN
amo is, quite frankly, jarring. amo is gentle where past work is rough, dreamy instead of raw, slow rather than gut-wrenchingly fast — but it works.
-
Original Rock.net
I suppose a little vilification is expected when you put your heart on the line. Understand it, accept it.
-

I don't use the phrase masterpiece sparingly, but this just feels like such an achievement that any other description wouldn't do it justice.
-
PUNKTASTIC
This is a record that will undoubtedly polarise fans, who will either embrace this new direction or immediately dismiss it.

the album is not necessarily a record that you will spin in its entirety.
-
MonkHammer
this may not be the same band that wrote Alligator Blood, but spiritually they are very much one and the same, and the results are often breathtaking.
-
Wall of Sound
the guys have attempted to try something completely different and out of their usual comfort zone and still managed to hit the mark with some key aspects of the release, minus a couple of bumps along the way.

the band have found their way back with a slightly more modern, adult sound coming from the former-screamo aficionados.
-
What's So Special About Music Anyways?
This album was rather hard to score, for the music that is on the record isn’t necessarily bad; however, it isn’t necessarily innovative or new (when speaking in terms of musical genre), but the approach to this album, musically speaking, is entirely new for the band.
-
DORK
Combine the rawness of their past with the musical scope of their present, and Bring Me The Horizon’s future could be very bright indeed.

When it comes to finding a mix that works, Bring Me are the best in the game.

-
Schummthing Special
Each song had something different to offer and was a surprise every time. While some songs were a bit lackluster, the overall quality of the album didn’t take too much of a hit from them.
