The pattern is holding steady on American Saturday Night, and Paisley’s songs and blues guitar begin to give that feeling of being at a Blue Angels Air Show — it’s on point for breathtaking standard maneuvers.

What does work about the song is its energy and optimism and, moreover, how Paisley carries that tone throughout much of the album. Paisley is too savvy to record an explicit political treatise.

Now add to that list Brad Paisley, whose superb new album, "American Saturday Night," celebrates cultural diversity, lionizes women, stirringly welcomes a black president and, for good measure, whoops it up about drinkin' and fishin'.

Paisley's tunes are toe-tappingly infectious, and his lyrics—especially those praising parenthood—are trending toward a more mature sensibility in comparison to previous efforts.

On the whole, American Saturday Night is one of his dreamier albums, filled with swaying slow dances, sweet love tunes, and the occasional brokenhearted blues, all delivered with a worn-in ease.

He sings from a unique perspective with his own sound that sets him apart from the lesser artists on radio. Even if you think you won’t like it, please give this album a try: it’s worth it.

While there’s still straight up fun to be had on American Saturday Night, it displays a maturity that does not necessarily exist on his prior albums. Additionally, the project consists of crisp and muscular production that still manages to demonstrate that Paisley is not ashamed to prominently feature traditional instrumentation.
