Needless to say it’s a fiery sign-off, delivered with relish, and like the record on the whole, designed to shut down any dissenting voices. Job very much done.

pop-punk high on ambition but low in originality.

'All Distortions Are Intentional' is filled with the heaviness of punk rock, relatable pondering and in peeling back its layers, a variety of gems can be obtained from the album. Its charm is left to be discovered by the listener themself and that is the main reason it becomes more catchy with each listen.

  • Distorted Sound Magazine

Overall, All Distortions Are Intentional is a catchy album with some pop-punk anthems and an exciting new project for NECK DEEP that we haven’t really seen from them.

All Distortions are Intentional is a wonderful expression of the never-ending questions we have about our existence and the discovery of the one thing that normally grounds us and gives us lost individuals meaning: love. Track after track is emotion-inducing and easy on the ears, leaving the listener contemplating their own experiences in life. It's a sad moment when the album comes to a finish with ‘Pushing Daisies’. This is one of Neck Deep’s most thoughtful albums yet and an all round pleasure.

Fortunately, the pros mostly outweigh the cons and both newcomers and longtime fans will likely be able to extract some semblance of enjoyment from ADAI; a record that hopefully isn't meant to be a stepping stone for an even more inconsistent musical palette to come.

All Distortions Are Intentional is a record that will leave a lasting impact. It’s timely, it's catchy, but most of all it’s just really good.

While the concept is there it isn’t overtaking the album. I can easily find myself connecting with these characters and also put myself in this story. I find this to be the beauty of the album and why I can pick it apart easily and listen to each song individually, or front to back, and still feel content with what I heard and get the message.

On ADAI, Neck Deep have not only grown as a band, they have also created a bold statement that will see them playing huge shows and headlining festivals once we get back to doing all that fun live music stuff. But until then, we strongly recommend you turn ADAI up loud, follow the story of Lowlife, and be in awe about the journey Neck Deep have taken to get to this place.

Throughout All Distortions Are Intentional the song writing is better suited to storytelling. With the goal being to create an album that stands strongly as a complete piece, as opposed to a collection of single-like songs, they’ve succeeded. It is unfortunately at the sacrifice of memorable individual songs. And in today’s climate of streams, playlists and shuffle modes, an album as ambitious as this suffers for it.

This is a solid and enjoyable listen, but as far as music goes, it is not exactly groundbreaking.

  • The Soundboard

There’s an inherent likability to Neck Deep’s material that hasn’t gone away, but it’s certainly been minimised to make room for a change in sound that doesn’t feel like the best direction for them to take overall.

Throughout All Distortions Are Intentional there’s a clear comfort within their own skin and identity as a band, something that has occurred as a result of an unrivalled work ethic and a new-found self-belief within their standing as a young British rock band in today’s scene.

Altogether, this record is an exceptional piece of art, possibly Neck Deep’s best work so far. ADAI weaves together the past, present, and future (and it managed to make me miss the hell out of Warped). Neck Deep’s ultimate talent is dropping new records when we need them most, leading us into the next chapters of our lives, and for that, I am eternally grateful. This installment in their catalog is one for the books and is one of the best pop-punk records to drop during quarantine.

Often reaching far beyond Pop-Punk, and yet with a similar vibe to their forebears in Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, and Simple Plan, Neck Deep is a band with heart who are not afraid to be real. So while All Distortions Are Intentional is a bold undertaking, it’s also a sincere look at what it means to be human.

All Distortions Are Intentional is a strong cohesive piece of work that shows major growth through a album-long story long relationship between Jett and Alice laid out in the very first track. This is something Neck Deep’s previous work would have been grasping at. Overall, this album will be sure to get both fans and new ears alike on board with this record.

  • It's All Dead

The album is light and airy and just the breath of fresh air I’ve been craving. Tracks like “What Took You So Long” and “Pushing Daisies” are bound to become songs that I return to when I need a pick-me-up. The album brings us from taking the time to regard those around us and make a difference, and by the end, we are reminded that, try as we might, we can’t fix everything. It’s cathartic in a time like this.

If you’re expecting to find change in Neck Deep here, you won’t get it. What you will get though is a fun, high calibre performance of something that while good, is endearing in how it so blatantly worries about breaking away from the ordinary.

Edges smoothed, ambition for something with a wider palette realised, 'All Distortions...' never severs ties with what came before, but - for a band who needed to find a way to move forwards and leave the past behind - it certainly tugs on the chord.

  • Into The Pit

Each single was perfectly curated to try out new styles, every track on the record was ordered wonderfully, and the amount of soul throughout is not something we’re used to from Neck Deep. The additional thought behind the story of ‘All Distortions Are Intentional’ is most impressive, and the band’s ever-expanding audience has been given a record that won’t entirely shock them but will surely allow for an appreciation of the band’s continued growth.

Whilst it can be difficult for a group to move past their initial sound, ‘All Distortions Are Intentional’ shows that it can be done. Tightly structured and evolving without being contriving, Neck Deep have continued to elevate themselves.
