Alive! remains Kiss' greatest album ever. An essential addition to any rock collection.

2004 - And that's why Kiss Alive! retains its charm: it never fails to recall a time when partying seemed like innocent fun rather than pathological escapism. And that, ultimately, is the myth that rock and roll lives to preserve.

Just hot riff after hot riff after hot riff.

give this album a spin. You might be surprised by how much it cooks.

I fall into neither category--regret the drum solo, applaud "Rock and Roll All Nite," and absorb the thunderousness of it all with bemused curiosity.

minus the impact of gaudy painted faces and stage theatrics, the band must be judged solely for its music. It’s awful. Criminally repetitive, thuddingly monotonous.

With 16 scorching tracks all sourced from the first three Kiss albums, Alive! is all killer and no filler.

2007 - it all sounds like one song - but who cares! It’s air guitar-humpin’, fist-pumpin’ party fun, and whilst it might not do a hell of a lot to further musical prowess it definitely doesn’t leave any doubt that, on their day, Kiss were the daddy.

As a result, I found that the music by itself didn't satisfy my expectations. From the distinct sound of a firework cannon at the start of "Deuce," I found myself sitting at my computer itching to type "Kiss live videos" into my search bar. I sensed that by just listening to the live recordings, I wasn't quite getting the full experience.

2015 - Alive! is a crown jewel of stadium rock, a big gamble that paid off in spades. 40 years on and it still sounds like a sneak peak of the best thing you’ve never heard of yet.

2018 - That alone makes this the perfect KISS album to buy as the first in one's collection or a must-have to a non-fans Rock library.

to this day Alive! is viewed as the essential Kiss album and the one by which all others are judged
