There’s something about The Six that manages to evoke the emotional imagery of something like a flirtatious meeting in a nightclub to something akin to the romantic majesty of Romeo and Juliet - and maybe that’s because they are the new stages for life to live - but being able to get lost amongst those feelings is where dvsn thrive and A Muse In Her Feelings attests to such.

A Muse in Her Feelings, dvsn’s third album on OVO Sound, honors the core of that alliance, but gazes past its perimeter.

A Muse In Her Feelings takes a huge risk as dvsn ventures into the mainstream world. From dancehall, to club sounds, to their familiar contemporary R&B vibes, the album provides a unique compilation of musical layers. While some songs may not necessarily stick for some listeners, majority of the project is amazing.

With their modest personas and its subtle production, it could be easy to disregard dvsn’s third record as more of the same, but repeat listens reveal a warm and unpretentious record, from an act confidently starting to evolve.

On “A Muse In Her Feelings” however, dvsn enlists help from outside their immediate camp for the first time to deliver their most multifaceted record yet, pulling from ‘90s R&B, dancehall, and New Orleans bounce.

Overall, though, the album is a resounding success. I need to dive in again to verify, but on the surface, A Muse In Her Feelings has a ton of replay value.

A Muse In Her Feelings is the most interesting project released from OVO since If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. The album could have been condensed and the first half of the album doesn’t live up to the second half.

All in all, this album was a nice pivot from dvsn's normal sound. This should be the album to bring them the mainstream popularity and fame that they rightfully deserve.

Overall, A Muse In Her Feelings adds another dimension of sultriness to dvsn’s playbook and it proves they’re incredibly talented at what they do best; make great R&B music.

Throughout the album, I never wandered, only following dvsn’s lead in their storytelling ability. Feeling completely unearthed and intrigued which each passing track, dvsn brings forth an album that, in my mind, completes a triple of modern R&B classics.

Although A Muse In Her Feelings does not musically reinvent the wheel, it is still a solid album with close to an hour’s worth of content for every dvsn and R&B fan alike. There is a little bit of something for everyone, and though I wish the OVO duo would have doubled down on their newer dancehall-inspired music, I am still satisfied with what we were given.

“A Muse” is a sensual masterpiece, radiating a warm and intimate energy through the use of raw piano chords and pulsating rhythms.

The triple entendre doesn’t have the depth dvsn was hoping for and even though there are songs with infinite replay value, the album doesn’t quite have the depth, either.
