While “Love Letter 4” is oddly disjointed, it opens the doors to a whole universe of possible future directions for Trippie: emo ballads, pop-rap, gritty punk, off-the-wall screamo, xylophone meme-rap. Maybe his best course is to pick a path and master it.

Despite that track, ALLTY4 is simply a stale album. The songs mainly feel like B-Sides off other Redd projects while giving the listeners nothing new to hear. The tracks get too monotonous, and they lack any kind of passion.

“Love Letter To You 4” is intense. I love the album’s fearlessness, its vulnerable moments, and how entertaining as a whole it is. Are there moments in which Trippie does too much? Absolutely! But would you enjoy the project if he didn’t do too much?

A handful of highlights aside, A Love Letter to You 4's shelf life isn't much longer than its runtime.

Trippie’s rapping and singing talents are not in question on ALLTY4 — he can easily compile a passable and listenable song, but the project lacks a guiding theme. For much of the mixtape, Trippie comes across as stale and guarded, frustratingly, he occasionally offers a glimpse of true promise, moments that unfortunately are lost and forgotten amongst an overall benign project.

Enthusiasts of Trippie Redd's brand of quasi-visceral heartbroken emo rap will have plenty to enjoy, but discerning listeners might have to pick a few favorite songs and discard the rest.

ALLTY4 doesn’t disappoint with its crooning, melancholic hits which take us inside Trippie’s world. Love, break-ups, hedonism, drugs and debauchery are all present. So too the braggadocio rap which Trippie (ironically) quietly excels at.

Overall, A Love Letter to You 4 is a much needed rebound for Trippie. Songs like “6 Kiss” featuring YNW Melly and Juice WRLD, and “Can You Rap Like Me, Pt. 2” reaffirm Trippie’s talent and ability to create enjoyable music.

The other 15 are all fantastic in their very own rights, though, and this tape just shows how versatile Trippie can be as an artist. This is a great addition to his Love Letter series, and won’t be forgotten anytime soon.

Although my initial impression of “A Love Letter to You 4” wasn’t anything too impressive, the album has grown on me over time. Each time I re-listen to a song, I have come to find it more musically creative and pleasing. Overall, I think Trippie Redd is a young artist with a lot of potential, and I’m interested to see which route the musician explores artisitcally.

The album is filled with good songs, but the average and bad songs bring this one down a lot. Many songs weren’t put to their full potential, and leaves me wondering what the song could’ve been if Trippie Redd put more effort into his writing.

His melodic wall of sound and easily understandable verse crafting provide the correct amount of noise to channel a wide range of listeners. If you’re looking for a mixtape that you can easily recite the lyrics to, ALLTY 4: Deluxe Edition may satisfy your needs.
