ADRENALIZE

Adrenalize is the fifth studio album by English rock band Def Leppard, released on 31 March 1992 through Mercury Records. The album was the first by the band following the death of guitarist Steve Clark in 1991. Instead of replacing him with a new member, the band recorded the album as a four-piece. "We had recorded demos on multitrack," recalled fellow guitarist Phil Collen. "I was sitting there with him when he played the original parts. I could relay that. But it was like playing along to a ghost." - WIKIPEDIA

Adrenalize simply makes that connection more explicit, proving in the process that Def Leppard is one of the catchiest bands in rock. And if that doesn’t make Adrenalize worth waiting for, I don’t know what would.

The momentum built by the British band had propelled them through the end of the ‘80s and into the ‘90s – but things were different by then. Musical tastes were changing; relied-upon colleagues were looking in other directions, and guitarist Steve Clark was dead. That was the backdrop to what would become Def Leppard’s fifth album, Adrenalize, which was released on March 31, 1992.

  • Metal storm

Adrenalize is that album which came out at a time when grunge had exploded and all of the 80's hair metal and pop metal were about to bite the dust. Adrenalize is my favourite Def Leppard album, no matter what!

Half written with Clark and half not! So props to that. I guess you just have to push forward. Up until recently, I had not listened to this album in a real long time. It’s like when you bump into someone you haven’t seen in a long time and you get caught up and then move on. That’s what Adrenalize is to me!

  • Pants and Fizz

Adrenalize is a decent follow up to the tour de force that is Hysteria. It's clear that Def Leppard loses part of its sound with the death of Steve Clark, and it shows in some of the tracks that Clark didn't contribute to on Adrenalize.

  • EAR OF NEWT

The majority of the album is taken up by half-baked retreads of the songs that made their last release, Hysteria, such a huge seller.

Adrenalize is an album that could never live up to it’s predecessor of Hysteria but does a good job of standing on it’s own 2 feet.
