musical rebirth from an ascendent R&B star primed for greatness.

6pc Hot isn’t the filling listen an album might be, but like its namesake, it’s certainly a worthwhile starter.
-
Pitchfork
On his laid-back and locked-in new EP, the Atlanta singer-rapper sounds more subtle and assured than ever.
-
HipHop DX
6pc Hot offers different shades of 6LACK, and if the flavors not always perfect, it’s never bland.
-
Clash Magazine
Bubbling with digital trickery while retaining that soulful flair that makes 6LACK so vital, ‘6PC Hot’ is an apt reminder of just how potent his songwriting can be.
-
The Post
6pc Hot EP is yet another beyond impressive performance from 6lack. It’ll be exciting to see him carry this energy into his next project. This EP is a near-perfect project, and listeners should expect nothing less from 6lack in the future.

Ratings Game Music
Though 6PC Hot is a very short EP, it features songs that you will need to replay over and over again to fully appreciate.

Thirstkey
This EP shows the different directions his next album could go and they all have strong potential. His sound is becoming more polished over time and I hope it culminates into something impactful. This EP is an appetizer that will hold me over in the meantime.

Traklife
6lack’s latest EP shows his continuous progression as an artist. He feeds off the emotion that’s lacking within the rap community, pulling together rap and emotion is a fundamental key to success. And he is a projection of that. There’s power in his lyric, his compilation, and the message that speaks volume during a time needed for healing.

Cillacritic
Coming to this new extended play album, one could argue that it does not have same fire like the main album. This is because for a first listener, he or she may find it hard figuring out his stories. Either way, the songs are interesting songs with good trap flow.

What You Expect?
A lot of EP's have been good-to-great this year, and 6pc Hot EP is among the great category. 6LACK has always spoken his emotions in poetic ways, but this feels like his first project of being able to channel in his inner thoughts in a consistently emotional way (albeit being six songs). He showed off his talents in the best way possible. 6LACK gave us a little 6-piece, extra crispy and spicy.

Though I didn’t realize it would be a short EP, the quality was not disappointing. I really like how 6lack perfectly hits a combo of smooth R&B and actually good rap.

6pc Hot EP is a product of the moment, considering some of the references to contemporary affairs. The conciseness of the project is appreciated and the record is seamless.

HipHop Hopscotch
A good, chilled project - it could've been better if it left its comfort zone but other than that - not many complaints from me.

The result is a well crafted and concise EP, a quality appetizer in anticipation of his upcoming album.

All Music
Despite its intermediary status, its material comes across as deeply considered and hints at creative growth, with the singer/rapper even more persuasive with heartfelt sentiments despite being as understated as ever.

Stereovision
So, was a 6pc enough? I’d say so, the project is short but the quality of the tracks makes up for the lack of tracks. 6pc Hot EP may be the only project out right now that sums up almost everyone’s lives at the moment.

Allan's Playlist
6PC Hot taps into 2016’s “Free 6lack” rawness, employing a minimalist approach in production while keeping its high quality.
