1986 - It’s a Van Halen world with or without David Lee Roth, and 5150 shoots off all the bombastic fireworks of a band at the peak of its powers. The Van Halen brothers are back in business.

it worked because they had the songs and the desire to party, so those good intentions and slow tunes don't slow the album down; they give it variety and help make the album a pretty impressive opening act for Van Halen Mach II

2016 - 5150 does contain a solid handful songs that would have fit into the style of some on the band’s early work

The fact is 5150 is an incredibly solid offering from one of the greatest rock bands of all time, drunk or sober.

But to get from A to B, you have to make a journey and that’s what 5150 is. It may lack power, it may be half-loaded with sap, it may sound weak.

Sammy's singin' and Eddie's amazing guitar tone is gone, leaving in its wake an irritatingly wimpy chorusy little piece of crap.

No musician with something to say could stomach responding to Sammy Hagar's call, and this album proves it.

5150 was certainly a fine album, sporting no less than six songs that regularly received airplay back in the day

For all my general negativity towards this album, I don't want to be reckless and go too low with my grade for it. MEDIOCRE

I love the guitar work and Sammy's style of singing / screaming was and still is my favorite singer's style.

Certainly not Van Halen’s finest album. But nowhere near their worst. I mean, Van Halen albums are basically pizza.

2018 - Hagar fits perfectly into the band, and 5150 has some very strong moments. But it could have been more consistent.
