2112

2112 (pronounced "twenty-one twelve") is the fourth studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released on April 1, 1976 by Anthem Records. After finishing touring for its previous album, Caress of Steel, in early 1976, the band was in financial hardship due to the album's disappointing sales, unfavorable critical reception and a decline in attendance at its shows. -Wikipedia

    2016 - Rush’s career-saving and career-defining album, now with lacklustre bonus tracks.

2011 - The success of this album launched the band into their most prolific and artistically intensive period of their career. Although the longevity of Rush would see them compose even finer albums over the next several decades, 2112 remains a definitive work in the band’s history.

2013 - 2112 – newly reissued in expanded form – is their most extreme, grandiose and Rush-like record, and thus their greatest.

The entire first side is comprised of the classic title track, which paints a chilling picture of a future world where technology is in control .... Comprised of seven "sections," the track proved that the trio members were fast becoming rock's most accomplished instrumentalists.

2016 - This is a package worthy of a place in any rock lover’s collection. The original album was worth having anyway but in the remastered form, and with the added content, it is an essential addition whether in CD, Vinyl or digital form.

2112 is definitely an album worthy of celebration. The 40th-anniversary edition of what in my opinion is the definitive Rush album is one that no self-respecting fan should be without, for the DVD if nothing else – the particularly thick booklet of liner notes is also a bonus as is the vast quantity of material.

Rush nerds will eat up this release. Extras on the different editions include new artwork by Hugh Syme, new liner notes from Rolling Stones Magazine’s David Fricke, digital comic books, photo galleries, hand written notes from Neil Peart and more.

2017 - Rush perfected the concept LP in 1978 with the eerier, less on-the-nose Hemispheres. But for many prog diehards, 2112 is still their shining moment among the vast galactic stars.

2112 takes the Canadian trio to their most imprudent conceptual extreme, with ensemble playing on an immeasurable scale and Neil Peart lyrics of exhilarating indiscretion

If there's such a thing as The Stereotypical Rush Album, then this is almost certainly it. Pretty much any serious discussion of Rush will bring this album up early on, and I've found reactions mostly tend to fall either into worshipping the album or spitting upon it. As often happens in such cases, I fall in the middle.
